Teardrop Build
This is my build journal of our teardrop trailer. As more work is completed, it will be updated. It is slow going as work keeps me pretty busy.

Teardrop plans
Here are the basic plans I am working from. The rest I make up as I go.

Creating the raised base
I wanted to make the base much wider than the typical 48". I also didn't want to have to work around the fenders. So, I built a base out of 2 x 4s with the dimensions of 66" x 108" and covered it. I didn't even have to take off the fenders that came with the trailer as they fit underneath the new base just perfectly.

Connecting to the trailer
In order for the new base to stay put, I will attach it using the 4 holders that came with the trailer. This should make it pretty secure but still make it possible to remove the teardrop top if I want to use the trailer as a flatbed.

Completed Base
Here are a couple of pictures of the completed base. I think this will be much easier to work around.

Initial shaping
You can see where the bed portion will be. The box is the live in area. More when I can break away from work.
